Decolonising the academic library collection : a talk by Professor Archie Dick

Decolonising the academic library collection : a talk by Professor Archie Dick In-Person / Online

The Department of Library Services at the University of Pretoria (UP) invites you to a conversation on Decolonising the academic library collection. Professor Archie Dick, well-known and internationally acclaimed UP academic and researcher in Information Science, will lead the conversation.

The role of the academic library is to support its institution's research, teaching, and learning efforts by providing information access. Academic libraries need to be intentional about providing information access, not only to privileged dominant voices, but also to previously muted voices, so that subsequent research outputs are transformed, and reflect more representative citations.

The intended audience is librarians, as well as academics in Information Science who want to engage in conversation about the transforming of library collections. Question and discussion time included.

Venue: This will be a hybrid event, taking place both in the Library auditorium in the Merensky 2 Library, Lynnwood Rd, Elandspoort 357-Jr, Pretoria, 0002 and accessible for online participants via Zoom. (Register below and get a Zoom link)

Please RSVP for refreshment purposes.
