How to upload datasets onto the UP Data Repository (Figshare) Online
In this presentation an overview will be given about the Figshare repository and all its functionalities and a demonstration will be given of how to upload a dataset onto the repository.
Presenter: Dr Johann van Wyk 
Johann is currently the Assistant Director Scholarly Communications at the Department of Library Services, University of Pretoria. This portfolio covers the areas of open access, research data management and copyright. He has more than 30 years’ experience working in the academic library environment working as a subject information specialist, cataloguer, faculty library manager, e-services manager, and as a manager responsible for Research Data Management and Digitisation. He completed his Doctoral degree in 2018 at the University of Pretoria with a thesis titled ‘The relationship between Research Data Management and Virtual Research Environments’. He is also currently the chair of NeDICC (Network of Data and Information Curation Communities) and recently also published an article ‘A conceptual Virtual Research Environment model for the management of research data, a South African perspective’. In addition he has presented several papers on knowledge management, Communities of Practice, Web 2.0, Research Data Management, and Virtual Research Environments.
